Chiropractic for Non-Athletes & Athletes

As some of you already know, Chiropractic is great for conditions involving back or neck pain ranging from arthritis to general everyday aches and pains. Chiropractic is excellent for headaches as well, as some of you have recently discovered. Did you know Chiropractic can be used to treat much more than the problems previously listed?

As of today, professional athletes in a wide range of sports seek out the care of chiropractors. Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Maurice Jones-Drew, Terrell Owens, Arnold Schwarzenegger (especially during his body-building years), Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods, and Tom Brady, to name a few.

Here’s a direct quote from Tom Brady:

“Just over the course of the season, your body takes quite a beating,” said Brady. “Every week, it’s about how fast you can recover and whether you can be up to full speed at practice on Wednesday after a game on Sunday. Chiropractic just makes you feel so much better,” he adds. “When I walk out of the clinic, I feel like I’m about three inches taller and everything’s in place. As long as I see the chiropractor, I feel like I’m one step ahead of the game.”

Professional athletes are gifted athletically. Ever wonder why athletes do so well, generally speaking, on “Dancing with the Stars?” Athletes need to keep their bodies finely tuned in any way to gain an edge over their competitors. Many professional athletes seek chiropractors for their numerous injuries.

Why can’t an everyday person seek out Chiropractors for aches & pains?

Through our careers, we undoubtedly sustain injuries throughout the workday, just like athletes. In fact, a desk job is difficult on the body by not moving around. The human body was not meant to sit around for half the day.

While attending school and spending countless hours studying, I discovered that sitting and bending over schoolwork was stressful, both emotionally and mentally, and physically. Fortunately, I was in the best place where regular adjustments had me operating at or near 100% efficiency.

As for my athletics experience, playing sports throughout middle school and high school, I would not have recovered as quickly from my many injuries if it weren’t for my personal Chiropractor and father, Dr. Zev Myerowitz. I had numerous ankle sprains, wrist sprains, elbow and knee pains, colds, flu, and a brush with appendicitis (will discuss in next newsletter).

I returned faster than my classmates and teammates. As much as I dislike reading this, being a big Red Sox fan, I am not surprised at the success the New York Yankees achieved in the 1920s – 1930s. During this time, the Yankees had a team Chiropractor.

The Yankees requested that the New York Daily news keep quiet about the team Chiropractor. Chiropractic was illegal during this time period in New York. Coincidentally, the Yankees won the World Series in 1923, 1927, 1928, and 1932. The team Chiropractor was Dr. Erie Painter.

Today, many professional teams and several colleges have Chiropractors on staff for their athletes. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work a little with the University of Missouri athletes while attending Logan College of Chiropractic. Working with the athletes was an amazing experience!

They were excited and thankful for our knowledge and treatments. The athletes would line up before we arrived to await treatment. The athletic training staff watched our treatments and discovered what exactly we do. The trainers and athletes recognized how important Chiropractic was to their overall success in the athletic playing field and how the athletes returned to play faster from injuries.

In closing to my first newsletter, I would like to thank you for allowing me to work with you and share some of the knowledge I’ve gained. Chiropractic is more than just neck and back pain. If you have questions about certain pains or ailments other than your neck and back, do not be afraid to ask.

If athletes get Chiropractic Care to help them excel and get a step above their competitors, why can’t you? Also, some famous actors are listed below. Again, they are only a select few of the many!
